East Rand Toyota

East Rand Toyota

With a full capacity of 13 vehicles of various makes, we had 7 Toyota manufactured vehicles attending. Allowing our customers into another aspect of 4WDriving, and experiencing the true adventure we have on this amazing continent of Africa. Camping and cooking in the bush is an experience you have to do, if never done before. And then if you have done this before joining ERT4X4 on an Adventure like this ensures, you have the necessary back up, knowledge on hand and a safe journey ensured.
A fairly large convoy met at the N1 filling station for departure of Stockpoort Border, and the first overnight at Khama Rhino Sanctuary, where and abundance of both Black and White Rhino are protected by the Botswana Defence Force -- A shoot to kill policy is adopted for poachers seen in the area. The second day of adventure was to traverse the infamous Makgadikgadi Pans, a large salt pan which has an amazing history and is many millions of years old.
2014 saw us negotiate this in the wet, whereas this year was dry, with only a few wet, soggy patches. A visit to the now designated monument of Kubu Island for sundowners, before making our way back to camp. At the second evenings camp spot, and around the camp fire, everybody had befriended each other by now, and the evening was spent telling war stories.
A relaxed start in the morning had the convoy stop and visit another historical site at Chapmans Boabab, a 500 year old tree. Negotiating the plains before entering Maun, saw our customers witness the gathering of thousands of Zebra, before migration of the species begins.

The afternoon, had our customers on a scenic flight over the Delta, which again puts another perspective of how large and how beautiful this country is. Then it was time to re stock, fuel up and and very early start into the Savuti.

The Savuti lays between the Moremi and Chobe Reserves, and is host to the Big 5, with exceptional game viewing.
Spending the last 2 days in Chobe, combined with a river cruise, allows close up viewing of game in the area. What makes all this a bonus, is the 4x4 tracks, with thick sand, gravel, mud pools, and a few rocky outcrops that ensures for Low Range, Diff Lock and all the vehicle features to be applied.
